CLASSES OVERVIEW

Classes at The King’s Church exist for gospel formation through increasing Biblical literacy and theological development. Our classes are designed to help members at The King’s Church grow in their discipleship and to promote lifelong faithfulness to the gospel, through increasing understanding of God and his word. They are designed to teach and train participants to better study the Scriptures and apply them to all of life. Classes are designed to supplement (not replace) participation in City Groups

This two pronged approach is accomplished through Bible Study (Biblical literacy) and Doctrine Courses (theological development). Classes are be offered on a semester basis (fall/spring) with 8 weeks of Bible Study Class and 5-6 weeks of a Doctrine Course. The first part of the semester, we will offer a Bible Study Class focused on a particular book of the Bible; the second part of the semester, one of our pastors will teach a Doctrine Course that will explore various theological topics to improve doctrinal proficiency.

Bible Study classes are designed to be active learning environments where the participant is actively studying the Bible and then bringing their work into a classroom setting where teaching and learning will take place. Doctrine Classes are designed to be more of an engaging classroom setting taught by the Elders of The King’s Church. Participants will utilize assigned books for outside reading as they prepare for each weeks lesson through teaching, questions and answers, and table discussions. There will be separate registrations offered for the Bible Study Class & the Doctrine Course each semester.

Spring 2024 Doctrine Course:

Believers are called in 1 Peter 3:15 to “always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.” Throughout history, Christians have answered this call to engage meaningfully with the objections to the faith. However, in today's world, where objections are plentiful and people are unsure what to believe, it can be challenging to have meaningful conversations about our beliefs with those around us.

On May 18th, from 9:00am - 12:00pm, we will be having a seminar where we will be discussing the topic of apologetics and addressing some of the objections that many people put forth about why they won’t believe in Jesus. We will cover the basics of apologetics, the big questions of whether Christianity is true, good, and beautiful, and how we can practically apply this knowledge better to engage those around us for the glory of Christ.

If you are interested in having meaningful conversations in an age that often lacks meaning, then join us for this semester's doctrine seminar. Childcare will be provided (please register your children who will need childcare so we have an accurate count).

Registration cost is $20 which provides registrants with a copy of the book The Air We Breathe: How We All Came to Believe in Freedom, Kindness, Progress and Equality by Glen Scrivener.
